Our Faculty Learning Community (FLC)

We view this workshop series as an opportunity to research discipline-specific conventions and curricular writing goals that are tailored to ODU students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines . We hope this project, specifically the three-part workshop series based on Dr. Patrick Bahls’s research and ideas, will foster the development of a collaborative teaching community across departments and disciplines at ODU.

Participants will use this site for updates and information as well as an online clearinghouse for sharing writing-based materials and resources for STEM and humanities programs across the university.

This faculty learning community is funded by the Improving Disciplinary Writing (IDW) Action Project Grant, a part of Old Dominion University’s (ODU) Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), which intends to improve upper-division undergraduate students’ disciplinary writing.
