Top 20 Grammar Concerns: Troubleshooting

Share the list of the top twenty grammar mistakes based upon Andrea Lunsford’s longitudinal study at Stanford. Have each student:

• Choose one they struggle with;
• Design a one-page visually-stimulating document that explains the concepts and reviews examples for a non-expert audience (perhaps have them use the genre of the trouble-shooting guide);
• Present their work to the class, doing one presentation per class (approx. 5 minutes).

In the process of learning grammar, students also cultivate two key skills: presentation skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to a non-expert audience.
